COMMONWEALTH NOTES. (Australian Press Association.) (Received 9.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, April 16. A return of the Commonwealth Bank shows an increase of a million pounds in the issue of notes. N.S.W. DEFAULT. MELBOURNE, April 16. Air Scullin announced that New South Wales Government not only defaulted in interest payments due in London, but also in payments due to the Commonwealth. The amount involved was £435.756 due on March loth and April Ist. A LABOUR SPLIT. MELBOURNE. April 10. Union officials are discussing the question whether expulsions from the Victorian Labour Party will follow Lang’s meeting. Thp Party’s president last week gave a ruling that any member of the party in Victoria who supported the policy outlined by Lang, would automatically place themselves outside the Labour movement. Several loading Union officials took part- in Lang’s meeting and they have since challenged the Labour Party to give effect to its threat.
