A SUCCESSFUL DAY. The Ross Sports Club Imd beautiful weather yesterday lor their meeting, which was well attended. The cliiel interest centred in tli<. axemen’s events. The popular “pick” T. Cron, won the big (underhand) chop, but J. Gugieh ran him close in the final. W.Bannister, who was third, won the upright elmp, while the maiden chop was won by C. Glass. L. Alartyn. (Hokitika) won tile Sheffield footrace. Mrs Seelieck was again to the fore in tinladies race. The Ross Orchestra was present- and rendered an excellent programme. -There was a largely-attended ball held in the evening. Results: — Maiden Footrace, 100 yards, 62 and 61:—Leo Martyn I. L. A ball was held in the To tarn Hall in flu 1 evening, the ball being packed, a large number of visitors coming ifrom both north and south.
The music was supplied by the Ross Orchestra, while Mr R. Richards had charge of Ibe floor. Supper was supplied the. ladies committee being in elmrge of same.
