The Jury, like all other liberal institutions, is of English origin and must therefore be abandoned bv Fascism, writes Romi. Minister for Justice-, exnlnining the constitution of tho new Assize Courts, one of the most notable Fascist reforms. He declares that the Jury system, introduced in 1859, has been unsuccessful. Jury men ai-e incompetent, irresponsible avd often returned a verdict absurdly, in instance of which was of a man who confessed to killing and cutting uj) hi.s wife. Fie was acquitted of murder but condemned on a charge of cutting up t.he corpse, Roec-o explains that new Assizes will consist of two Judges, five lay Judges or assessors.
