SERIOUS ACCIDENT

if A serious accident happened at Kumaru at, the intersection of Seddon. and Main Streets about 4.45 o’clock yesterday atternoon. Two young men. Allan Parkhill and James Cooper, both ol Hokitika were coming from Greymouth oa a motor cycle, Parkhill riding on the pillion. At the intersection, when on their proper side of the road, a motor car. driven bv Mr F, Neatne, came round cue corner and cutting it close the two vehicles came into collision with the result that Allan Parkhill (son of Mr A. Parkhill of Fitzherbort Street) received ..a compound fracture of the right leg. it being broken below the knee and above the ankle, while dames Cooper (son of Mr J. Cooper of Davie Street) received a severe wound on the right leg from the knee to ankle the shin bone being laid bare with a deep gash.

The injured at once received assistance and were brought down to Westland Hospital one in a motor car and the other in a lorry, on a wire mattress. On arrival the necessary medical attention was given and this morning both sufferers were reported to be doing ns well as could be expected. The motor car was not damaged and tbe motor cycle received very slight damage. Beyond the injury to their right legs the two young men escaped further damage, '
