DONCASTER HANDICAP COMMENT

SYDNEY, April 6

Commenting on the Doncaster Han. dicap, the “Sydney Morning Herald’’ says—Sir Chrystophor’s victory was a just reward for consistency and triumph for the Newcastle trainer L. Cushman, who has been studying the horse’s neeuliarities for many months.

Sir Chrystopher. which this year won four out of five starts, came from the last at the three furlong post and first at- the furlong post and sustaining a long gruelling run, won by 3 of a length front that sterling performer Mollison. which tried to win .all the wav. The time was only half a second outside Wbitter’s 1924 record for the noncaster. Sir Chrystopher was purchased as a yearling for only eighty guineas. His buyer, however, was not satisfied and re-sold him to H. R. Munro for sixty guineas. He has already won £6.117. CUP COMMENT. SYDNEY, April 7. The “Morning Herald’" says in the slowest run in the Sydney Cup for years. The Dimmer emerged victorious from the smallest field fo r twentythree years. After entering the .straight in the event, only an accident would cause the defeat of The Dimmer. The late withdrawal of Chide, "Waterline and Soulton, robbed the event of some interest, but notwithstanding the small field it is also to admitted the clans of horse engaged did not approach the standard of former years.
