GISBORNE, April 7
A lire this morning in the Majestic Theatre building gutted Ferguson's confectionery shop and extensively damaged the Grand Tea Rooms above, whilst the Theatre vestibule and Brickfords stationery shop suffered damage by water, 'l'he flames had a strong hold wlieii di'Scovered and the Brigade, effected a good sjtv<» of the main portion of the Theatre Building. Ferguson’s stock was insured for £1,500 in the Yorkshire Office. FATAL ACCIDENT. C A Pi-si ZED IN GULLY. Cambridge, April 7, Late yesterday afternoon on the Horahora—Maungatiiutnri Road a light motor truck, owned and driven by Alfred William Head, niurried, aged 54, a farmer, skidded in lonise metal and capsized down a steep gully. The vehicle fell about fifty feet, somersaulted several times. The driver was killed. sustaining a broken neck. Head’s wife and son were also in the I ruck and were not seriously injured though severely shaken. The vehicle was badly smashed. CRICKET. HAMILTON, April 7.
