THOUGHTS OF THE TIMES.
FIDUCIARY INFLATION. Fiduciary signifies “without securities" or “uncovered,” and the fiduciary loan is one which is made on the honor and good faith of the borrower, without deposit of securities and without cover. Mr Theodore’s £18,000.000 will he fiduciary in the sense that they will not have behind them any gold cover nor securities. Conseouently, it will be pure inflation. That Mr Theodore and Mr Scullin recognise the issue as being pure inflation is evident from ther announcement that it is their intention, ultimately, when times improve, to issue loans in Australia by the proceeds of which the fiduciary poles will be retired. —Syd ney Telegraph.
