ATTEMPTED ROBBERY

DUNEDIN. .March 31
A branch office of the Bank of New Zealand was the scene of an attempted robbery this .morning. Thompson, manager of North Dunedin branch went to North East Valiev office about 11.30 a.m. and was counting money, when there was a knock at the door, on opening which a man squirted a. stream of ammonia in his face.
The manager slammed the door In the intruder’s face, ran to the next door neighbour, and phoned the police lint the intruder had disappeared. Thompson stiffen'd great pain from the ammonia, hut a serious result is unexpected.
No money wigs secured by the marauder.
