LABOUR UNION’S PLANS

A BOYCOTT POSSIBLE. INVERCARGILL, March 27. “At the present time there is no foundation for the rumours that are being circulated with reference to a general strike. The Labour movement realises that a majority of New Zealand Unions are not in a position to adapt that, weapon, but there are a number of Unions in key industries which may adopt such tactics,” said Mr Arthur Cook, president of the Alliance cf Labour, who is visiting Invercargill. He said the Labour movement blamed the Unemployment Act and its administration for the increasing number of unemployed. It was full of loopholes and any employer could take advantage of it. Referring to the subject of wage; reductions. be said that beyond question a boycott would be adopted.
