The resignation of -Sir George Elliot as chairman of directors of the Bank of New Zealnad raises an interesting point as to whether he is to be re-ap-pointed to the directorate wheil Iris term expires at the end of the month. Mr R. A. Anderson, who, like Sir George Elliot, is a Government iioniiheo, is also due to retire by effluxion or time. Questioned to-night, Mr Forbes said he could no-t make any announcement as to how the vacancies would be filled, An announcement would be deferred until recommendations on the subject had been placed before the ■;Governor-General within a. few days.
