LOST MONOPLANE
SOUTHERN CLOUD. (Australian Press Association.) ■SYDNEY, Ylarch 30. The search for the Southern Cloud continues in Ynotoria and also Port Phillip Bay. A report has arrived from n country police constable who saw fire flares for two hours on Saturday in Benembra forest, in the vicinity of Omeo. These are now being investigated.
A FEELING OF DESPAIR. (Received this dav at 9. a.m.i MELBOURNE, March 31. A feeling of despair prevails at Essentlon Aerodrome. Even Kingsford Smith, whose optimism and energy have restirrod the flagging hopes and spirits, now feels there is little likelihood of the Southern Cloud being found. The fires reported near Omeo turned out to be bonfires lit by campers. There are persistent rumours of a wing being seen in Port Phillip Bay, but these are not confirmed.
