THOUGHTS OF THE TIMES.
MR. FOR BIOS’ QUALITIES. The Prime Minister has qualities that are very valuable in this national crisis. Me is not afraid to face facts; he has the courage to put forward a definite unpopular policy, and to stand by it; and ho Ls imperturbable. Attacked on every side, worried all day and half the night by great problems of policy and petty details of administration, and denied the strength and relative certainty that come from command of an absolute majority of the House, Mr Forbes goes on his way -teadily and coolly, determined to do what he thinks right, and saying quite openly that if the House does not choose to endorse his policy it has an alternative. There is .something refreshing in his strength and honesty, especially when it is contrasted with the frantic efforts made in some quarters to prove that if you take two from four you still have four. —Auckland Stax.
