Last evening at the Princess Theatre a splendid talkie programme was submitted. The usual supports were shown including a gazette in which a variety of events were shown. Of interest. to patrons will he the return of the fourth series of the “Collegians” in talkie form. Advice was received by the local bodies by to-day’s mail, that from tomorrow (April Ist.) tlie rate of wages payable under Xo. 5 scheme will be reduced from 14s per day to 12s Gd for married men and 9s for single men. Tlie death occurred yesterday at the Lewisham Hospital, Christchurch, of Sister Mary Carmel, who until "December last was a member of the community of he Groymouth Convent of Morey. The late Sister M. Carmel, whose death followed upon an operation, had been stationed in Groymouth for five years. Her removal to Christchurch at the end of last year was due to failing health.
