While messages were being transmitted. one of tlm Commercial Cable Company's cables suddenly became dead. The break was located in the British Channel. A repair ship, picked up the severed erds with a grappler. There is every evidence that the line was intentionally cut. as there are distinct saw marks. A reward of £IOO sterling is offered lor information. It is surmised that the cable fouled a shin’s anchor and the crew finding they were unable to free the anchor, severed the cable.
