The syndicate would thus receive (J310.OIK), from which I here will be deducted the amounts paid to the various holders of horses.
The syndicate estimates that it will make a profit of L 125,00(1. In the event of their syndicate proving unable to purchase a share in aTI of the tickets, they will back the hors-
es concerned to win proportinnte amounts, if they lmv<. to back the larger number of the horses, they expect that tills may reduce (heir profits to sixty thousand ; hut, in any event they are bound to win. The syndicate has already cabled to every bolder, and forty per cent, of the holders have accepted their proposition.
