March 19. “'The Times’s” City Editor says “Mr Theodore’s fiduciary bill is admittedly inflationary. If inflation would mitigate AiustraUa’s troubles there would he no objection to it. But a raising of the price levels can only raise costs of production, thereby diminishing capacity for exports.” EXCHANGE RATE. LONDON. March 18. “Tlie Australian exchange rate has failed to benefit from the continued improvement in the wool market,” says the “Financial News.” “Ranking circles now realise that there is no question, of an early reduction in the official rates. Indeed there are signs of a moderate revival of the outside market, where the rates are between 130$ and 131$ per cent., and owing to Mr Lang’s interest reduction proposals, considerable money is being sent from New South Wales.
DALLEY SEAT. OPPONENT FOR MR THEODORE. CANBERRA. March 19. Senator Dunn, who has been removed from his position ns Government Whip in the Federal Semite, lias announced that he has decided to contest the pre-election for the Dailey seat in the House of Representatives at next elections. The Dailey seat is at present held by Hon. E. G. Theodore, Federal Treasurer.
