MT. MORGAN MINE
WORKS ABLAZE. (Australian Press Association) BRISBANE, March 18. The Mount Morgan Mine works are threatened with destruction by a fire which is raging. It began near the smelter binns on Monday night. Th hosepipes were out of order owing to their long idleness. 9'he mine pumps also required replacements. A strong wind sprang up just when the fire-fighters appeared to be get-tin the upper hand, and this drove the flames into the woodwork in all directions. I.hf> water supply is rapidly being exhausted. A large crude oil tank and concentrators are in t.li c path of the fire which, if it jumps a break that lias been made, will wip,. out the works completely.
