SPIRIT OF SACRIFICE
“The spirit behind Mr Forbes’s statement of the Government’s intentions for balancing the Budget is the spirit of equality of sacrifice, with the object of restoring the prosperity of the Dominion so that, as soon as possible, the standard of living of every section will be restored and eventually improved.” said Mr H. S, E. Tinner in his presidential address to the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce. “As such.” he added, “I think we should support him and his Government in the steady carrying out of his policy.”
