Luekic, DeputyMayor, presided. The organisations concerned wmw the New Zealand Educational lnrtitute. the Amalgamated .Society ot Rail Waynion, Public Service Association, and the P. and T. Association. ! The rospective speakers were: Aliss 1 Alagill. Air L. .Mcilvride, Air E. W. Millar, and Air J. H. McKenzie. The eountoi- proposals of the combined service organisations were out lined by Mr .Millar, and were as follows : (a) A wage tax of sixpence in' tie pomui on all salaries and wage- paid throughout New Zealand, this to I) ■ ii the form of a stamp duty. Note:— “Siilary” to include that portion o the income of a professional or business man which is drawn for the liv ing e.xpeiifs s of himself or In's family. (b) A special tax on unearned in com ' to provide lor a similar taxation burden. (e) Income -tax to he payable on :d incomes of Cl-'O or over, with an exemption in the ease of a married man of 61.10 for a wife, together with existing exemptions.
