AUCKLAND, March IT An unusual petition for permanent alimony made by a wife several yea is after divorce was refused by Mr Justice Herdman to-day. The marriage of Nora Constance \\ . yfaltn and John William Mann was dissolved in 1926. The husband continued maintenance payments till December, 1929. The Judge said that if there were no time limit respondents would not know where they stood. Some iesti active meaning must he given to the words in the act. It would he ex tremeiy dangerous to decide that, because of the special circumstances in this case, the petition should he granted.
