The brilliant weather made the track conditions perfect. The attendant was large. The tote took £36,712 10s, compared with £52,295 10s, a decrease of £15,583.
Ivarapoti was a hot favourite for the North Island Challenge Stakes. Hector Gray’s horsemanship helped him to beat Lady Quox. The pair came away from the field in a great battle. Hunting Cry outstayed the others. Lord Argosy showed speed over five furlongs, but! then tired. Xigbtmareh was scratched.
Lady Pam just barely landed the St. Leger. The Auckland colt, Bronze Eagle, made an exhibition of the big field in the Plunket. Nursery Handicap Jn the Thompson Handicap the leaders till tlie straight were Refresher, .Pa kite re, Silvermine, Arrow Lad, Pngnnelli, Laughing Prince and Historic.
