Coroner returned a revdiet that death was caused hy liaelnorrliage into the brain and shock, canseu by an acidental fal lout- of a lift at St. George's hospital. The incident was du L > to an unforeseen looseness in the gat<> lock attached to the outer lilt gate at the first floor preventing the cutoui from coining into operation. "It would appear.” the Coroner added "that it would he desirable to giv-o consideration to the omission of floating floors in lifts Used for the transit oif beds and the substituting cutouts operating on the inner doors.

To-day at Napier the Council formally handed over control of the City to the Commission appointed hy the Government. Mesrs .T. B. Barton S.M. and L. B. Campbell, Government Engineer. The proposal is that the Commission shall decide all matters on the merits their actions subsequently being confirmed hv the Council.
N A PIER S COMMISSI ON. NAPIER, -March 11. On taking over control, Mr Barton said Napier presented wonderful prospects to a town planner. The business people would soon he on an excellent wicket, but no building would be permitted till the land resumed its stability.
