INDUSTRIAL LAWS HILL. (Australian Press Association.) (Received 10.35 a.m.) SYDNEY, Ahm-h 11. Revolutionary changes in the State industrial laws are provided for in the Jtiduritrial Conciliation and Arbitration Bill, which was explained by the Minister of Labour and Industry Mr Baddeley, in the Assembly. The Bill provides for the abolition ol the- existent industrial commission, and tiie appointment of .Justice Piddingtun as sole Commissioner, Preference: to financial unionists, abolition of loyalist unions, determination of basic wage on a basis of man and wife, restoration of the rights of Government employees similar to tlioiSe existing outside the service, prohibition of piece work on the bonus system, and the right of domestic servants. it organised in a union, to obtain an award covering wages and conditions. fur Bavin, opening the attack, said every clause, in this Bill rocks with injustice, tyranny and stupidity. If the vicious and utterly revolutionary provisions of the Bill are to be accepted, no new industry will start, and every industry that possibly can will leave the State. The Bill open-' the doors to wholesale blackmail and transfers the control of industry from employers to union secretaries. Air Bavin accused Air Lang of having allowed Union' Secretaries to draft the Bill on condition that they did not preterit against- the shilling in the pound tax.
OPPOSITION PROPOSALS. MELBOURNE, March 11. Instead of the Commonwealth Government’s proposed judiciary note issue, the Federal Opposition leader, A.lr Latham, announced his scheme lor meeting urgent demands of farmers. This entails taking the task out of the hands of the Government and raising non-Goverutneiit finance lor iariu relief, which will be controlled by a suitable representative body. I nder the scheme, advances will he made on a selective basis to farmers to put in and take off their cropis, and to provide maintenance' as required. It i s believed there is sufficient spare money kept in Australia to lina-nco such a scheme, provided it had a proper backing, and Air Latham said he ahead) had favourable dealings with the banks.
