CRIPPLE CITY’S ACTIVITIES {United Press Association. —Vj Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.] NEW YORK, March 8. At Chicago, citizens aided by tho unemployed, are engaged in digging out operations after a tliirtv-six hour blizzard, which lias left thirteen point seven feet of snow. The blizzard has resulted in the deaths of seven persons. It has crippled the city’s activities.
Trains arid motors probably will he able to move through the cleared snares to-morrow, hut many of the vehicles are "marooned in the snow drifts an much as twenty feet high. A terrific wind and high waters imperilled tile traffic on Lake Michigan. The coastguard were unable to aid the struggling ships, due to the bed visbility. The city is worried by the danger-of fires while the streets are impassable, but the workers are endeavouring to clear passages for the fire engines as well as the milk trucks and the other necessary traffic.
NEW YORK FLOORER. NEW YORK, March 8. New York City has suffered a million dollars damage. There were five deaths. In a heavy north-east gate, the streets were flooded, and the radio and light services were broken clown. Much damage was inflicted upon seasides properties by high tides , and waves. Many famillies are unable to leave their homes in the Fulton Market district, which is flooded. Homes and buildings on Staten Island have been wrecked. Small vessels have been driven throe city blocks from the shore up the main streets.
