The crackling of the lire wakened persons occupying the nearby premises. 4he Fire Brigade found the three premises under one roof a mass of flames at the hack, and before the conflagration was under control, the two shops had been reduced to ashes, and the third gutted. The strenuous work of file Brigade prevented the lire from spreading ifuriher in a continuous line of buildings.
