This kind of thing must stop, said Justice Herdman, in sentencing three youths Robit Rikit, Herbert Williams and Maurice Edward Weston for assault with intent to roll and breaking, entering and theft. The Judge said the prisoners entered a taxi, drove round Auckland, then seized upon the taxi driver, trying to throttle and rob him. Next they broke into a house, one wearing a mask. Another struck a man lying abed. Williams and Weston who had already been in Borstal, were sentenced to detention afterwards for three years in a prison camp. Two absconders from Weraroa, Charles Heberley and James Burton, both 17$ years, who were arrested op Saturday. were charged this morning with breaking and entering the New Zealand Express Company’s premises at Palmerston North and stealing money and 1 an electric torch. They were remanded to the 17th.
