PACIFIC TRADE BOARD
MANY ADVANTAGES SEEN. VANCOUVER, Fhruary 2. The proposal of the Vancouver Board of Trade for the organisation of an Empire Association of Chambers of Commerce of British countries on the Pacific has “rung the bell” in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Hong Kong, according to Mr \Y. E. Payne, executive secretary of the board in Vancouver. Letters have been received from every country and ilroin practically every Chamber of Commerce in each, and without exception the response is distinctly favourable. The reception of the idea in Australia is summed up in a letter from Mr J. Mitland Paxton, president of the Associated Chandlers of Commerce of the Commonwealth, who states that it will be submitted to the entire membership of all affiliated chambers for definite action. “We see many advantages in such an inter-Empire body and, but for existing business condtions, delegates would he sent to any central point for a conference on formal organisations,” Mr Paxton wrote.
