PRISONERS AI CUNY
SYDNEY, March 4
Refusing to obey the orders of the warders and declaring they demanded justice, prisoners in the Parramatta gaol mutinied. When they were promised an official inquiry into their grievances they marched back to their cells.
The mutiny took the form of passive resistance, but to prevent an attempt to cVeatc a riot. detachments were rushed to the gaol. Recently one prisoner attacked a warder and was punished. The details of the affair were greatly exaggerated and the other prisoners mutinied as a protest.
Among the 350 prisoners in the gaol at present are some of the worst criminals in Australia.
