RADIO PROGRAMME

(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) SATURDAY FEBRUARY 28th A group of four Welsh songs will form part of lYA’s programme this evening. The singer will be Reg. Morgan, baritone, who was born and receivel his musical training in South Wales. A new vocalist to be heard will be Miss Betty Zukerman, soprano, A humourous elocutionary number and a burlesque lecture will be given by Mr Zante Wood. Eric and Jack will provide novelty piano and vocal item**. The programme by the Orchestral Octet will include the march “ Nelson’s Call,” the waltz “ 0..i..;~ » yfy(i(]ieton’s “Scottish Memories,” “Hungarian Lustspiel,” two South American tunes, a characteristic piece, Von Blon’s “ Traumbild ” and two intermezzos. The Lyric Male Voice Onnrtet. with Mips Flora MacKenzie in songs at the piano, will provide the vocal nortion of 2YA’s programme. Mr Norman Izett will proide. novelty piano items, and a clarionet solo, “Alicante,” will he played by Mr H. Langtry. Many popular numbers, several of them being from musical plays, will be provided by the Salon Orchestra, under Mr M. T. Dixon.

3YA also has a prn~rnmum of much variety. Mr E. R. Pitman (tenor of the Beckenham Afale Omirtet), Air Leslie Fleming (bads, singing “Oipsy John,” ‘‘At Dawning” and “La PMoma”), the RAse and Thistle Duo (in Cabaret songs at the piano, with hanjolole), Aliss Elaine Moody’s Hawaiian Quartet and the Studio Octet, under Mr Harold Beck, will supply the programme, which will also be broadcast by 4A T A.

AIONDAY, MARCH 2nd. Mr Denis Sheard, late of the professional stage will give a recital of four songs of varied types at 2YA this evening. Aliss Gwladys Edwardes and Miss Hilda Chudley, two very popular singers, will he heard in solo and duets. Bass solos will be contributed bv Mr Claude O’Hagen. Featured also on the programme will be Mr Clement. May, the well-known elocutionist and entertainer, who will give four recitations ranging from humorous to dramatic. The instrumental portion of the musical programme will be of outstanding merit. It will be provided by Mr Claude Tanner (’cellist), Mr Gordon Short (pianist) and the Orchostrina, under Signor A. P. Truda. 3YA will broadcast an open-air concert, to be given by Derry’s Military Rand (under Air J. Scott) and the following 3YA artists: Messrs Olliver Foote, W. H. Inskster and AV. J. Richards. The programme will be of a very popular nature.

A new combination in the entertainment line—“ The Radiettes”—who will appear before the 4YA miscropiione in song, dance and patter on Monday evening, will present a very cheerful and original fifteen minute entertainment. Air H. P. Desmoulins, deputyconductor of tlrts Dunedin Choral Society, will present three baritone solos: “How’s Aly Boy-'” “Little Elman” and “Border Ballad.” The instrumental sidv, of this programme will be very well catered for indeed. An entirely new combination, Will Smith’s Kapai Band is apeparing. This hand features old-time melodies. On this occasion, it will make a speciality of eariy ballroom dances. Silent day at IYA.
