SUPERINTENDENT HUGO

RETIRING NEXT MONTH. . WANGANUI, February 25. Word has been received here that Superintendent Hugo, Inspector of Fir© Brigaes, goes 'into retirement on March 31, his successor being Mr R. Butcher, Chief Inspector pf Explosives. It is understood that the Government is linking up the two offices on the score of economy. Superintendent Hugo was originally a sea captain. He came from Adelaide to take charge of the Wellington fire brigades and held the position for many years. He was responsible for placing the Dominion brigades on a better working basis.
