NEW CHARGES

POSTAL AND TELEGRAPH INCREASES. LETTERS UP TO TWO PENCE. (Titj Telegraph —Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 26. The new postal and telegraph charges are announced. Briefly the charges are : Letters, 2d (instead of Id). Postcards Id (instead of Ml). Late fee. 2d (instead of Id). Packets, Id for each -1 ozs., (instead of id for each 2ozs.) up to 21b., and 2d for lb thereafter. Newspapers. Id lor each Boz. (instead of ,Jd per copy). Registration, fd (instead of 3d). Parcels, 0d lb lor first lb, 3d lb thereafter up to lllb. Fragile fees of Od and 9d on parcels are doubled. Telegrams are increased to one penny per word with a minimum of Is with urgents at double that rate. Night letter telegrams will he charged Is for 21 words. Radio telegrams will be increased from od and 10(1 per word to 6d and llu. The press rate of Is (id per 100 words remain, but a limit of 6000 words will be imposed on press for morning papers lodged alter 5 p.m. For evening papers the limit after 5 p.m, is fixed at 1000 words, words in excess of those maximum* being charged for at the rate of jd each.
