ANDERSON MURDER
TRIAL OF COLSTON. FURTHER EVIDENCE. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) HAMILTON, February 26. The fourth day of the trial ot Charles Colston, (38), tor alleged murder of .Mrs Anderson at National Park on January 6th. was entered on to-day. The first witness to-day was Detective Walsh of Wanganui, who has charge of the investigation. He said the first person he interviewed was Air* Tolley. He then went out to the scene of the tragedy, accompanied by Sergt. Sawyer, Constable Parker ana two boys, Tolley and Storr. He fouria a gun behind the woodshed. Ho searched for it there in consequence of what Mrs Tolley told him. It bad tlm appearance of having recently been fired. The fore end of the gun was missing. Witness described the house as a four roomed cottage, constructed of corrigated iron, lined with conger board. The place was very scantily furnished, and the whole place was untidy. In Alls Anderson's room there was a wire impress, home made candlestick, kerosene ease, and two suit eases. The window was broken, a cross bar and some of the glass lying outside. He came to Ihe conclusion that t.iie window had been broken apparently Irom tbe inside to the outside. There were some small pieces of astragal inside the house. Ho found in all 21 empty wine bottles on the Hour, where there was three pools ol congealed blood. There was also a spray of blood on the hack wall. Next day witness saw Mrs Anderson's body at the morgue at: Taumafunui. A black and white sketch made by Dr Fisher was an exact reproduction of tin' features and shot holes.
