MEW APPOINTMENT. (Australian Press Association.) < Receivc-d 10.25 a.m.) MELBOURNE, February 25. Hr ,J. V. Weslhoven, deputy director of postal services, has been appointed Fedeial Public Service Arbitrator in succession to Hr Alice limit, who retired last: year. The position carries a salary of IJO.JO sterling. The Arbitrator has power to fix salaries and wages of Federal public servants over-riding the Public Service Commissioner. The appointment is regarded as a result of Cabinet decision to proceed with salary reductions. The Arbitrator has the status of a judge. His awards are binding and the Government is relieved of responsibility of making reductions.
