ALL SAINTS NEW CHURCH
Last month the Vicar announced in the Westland Church Magazine that lie desired to ascertain the wishes of the parishioners regarding the bidding of the new church. The scheme was first mooted during the war with the suggestion that it should he regarded as a War Memorial; and the Fund was started with a donation given by Mr Stanley an old and respected church member now deceased. The Fund has gradually increased until it now stands at the figure of £4OOO, which is considered sufficient to complete the Chancel, to be built on to the East end of the present- structure. Tin's money constitutes a Trust Fund, which cannot be used for any other purpose. In view of the approaching visit of the Bishop of Christchurch, it is desirable that the Church tnem* hers should come to a definite decision with regard to the date of commencing building, There appear to be twP opinions., each with its own supporters: one, that the present is a favourable opportunity, when buildings costs are not too high, and the necessary work would assist in relieving unemployment in the neighbourhood: the other that delay might result in reduced building costs, and eventually enable a larger portion of the whole scheme' to he comnleted at one time. In order to find which opinion carries the greater weight, a meeting will be held in All Saint’s Hull on Wednesday, March 4th.. at 8 p.m.. when it is desired that a fullv renresentative gathering shall assemble in order that the decision shall he a true indication of the mind of All Saint’s Church members
