He was a native of Sweden and came to New Zealand when a lad. TTo was interested in timber anu furniture trades and formerly was a member of the Grey Power and Cohden’ Town Boards. THROWN FROM A HORSE. FARMER FATALLY INJURED. TE KTJITL February 23. Charles H. Holmes, a well known farmer of Toanga, was thrown fioin his horse which bolted yesterday, and received a compound fracture. oF. the thigh. When lying helpless on the ground, bulls approached the scene and attempted to reach Holmes, but the dogs kept them back. The unfortunate man was lying on the ground for some time before rescued by his brother. He was taken to tfie hospital where complications ensued and lie died last night. He leaves a wife and several children.
