India’s wonder horse, Sir Victor Sassoon’s Star of Italy, the six-year-old, scored a triumph when it easily won the Wadia Gold ‘Cup, which is one of the most. coveted of Bombay’s racing prizes. The win is more noteworthy because the horse suffered its only defeat in India in this race last year. MELBOURNE, February 23. Re-handicaps for Newmarket Handicap:—First Arrow 81bs. over, carries 8.4; Merab 3lbs. extra, carries 9.8. Australian Cup:—Prince Don filbs. extra, carries 8.5. S. G. Raymond of St Albans, is contesting a vacancy on the V.R.C. Committee.
