RADIO PROGRAMME

(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 10th IYA will present a programme of the popular type this evening. Soprano solos will be contributed by Miss Isabel Hollands, a visiting 2Y.A artiste. Mr Will Harris, a very popular Auckland tenor, is making his first appearance at IYA and Miss Maida G. Davidson will also be heard in a number ot light solofs. Novelty piano items will be given by Miss Cherry Anderson while of particular interest in the Orchestral Octet’s pregramme is the suite, “The Ballet of the Flowers” by Hadley. The Miramar Silver Band, under the conduetorship of Mr R,. A. Sutherland, will give a concert at 2YA Studio. The vocal portion of the programme will be in the hands of Miss Ena Raplev and Mr Edwin Dennis, who will be heard in solos and duets. Mr Claude Moss (baritone) will sing “Oorisande,” “Sometimes in Summer,” “A Maori Slumber Song” and “Pokare Rare.” Included in this programme will be an instrumental trio consisting of Messrs Norman Izett (piano), Mr Will McKeon (violin) and Sam McLean (’cello). For 3YA Mr Arthur Lilly, A.R.C.0., the well known Christchurch Musician has arranged a special programme call, ed “Flowers and Music.” Each phnsP will be introduced by a few remarks from Mr Lilly and in the presentation of the various songs he will be assisted by Airs Grace Empson, Miss Angusta Painter, Miss Sylvia Marshall, Mr A. Tvinvig, Master Ralph Tally, Mr Gregory Russell, Mr Alfred Bunz (piano) and the choir of the Holy Trinity Church, Avonside. The instrumental portion of the programme will he provided by the Studio Octet. Silent day at 4YA. FRTDAY, FEBRUARY. 20th. The Orpheus Quartet, which proved very popular at its recent first performance, will sing concerted and solo numbers from IYA this evening. The artists in this combination are ; Miss Chrissie Foster, Miss Cathleen Alulquoen, Mr Syd. Pofflev and Mr E. M. Newling. Humour will be given by Mr G. C. Tollerton, instrumental items by Mr S C. Lewis (clarinetist) and Barry lngall’s Hawaiian Quartet. Altogether, it will be a programme ol great variety.

Beckford (baritone) will sing “The Sailor’s Paradise,” “Captain Mac,” “Farewell Thou Outbound Ship.” Airs -Mildred Kenny and her guitar orchestra will be heard in a number of Alaori and Hawaiian melodies. A humorous sketch, “Charity begins at Home” will be given by the ‘The Sketches,” and Alias Anne Davies will be heard in mezzo-soprano songs.

Appearing on 3YA’s programme will he Miss Cicely Audibert, who is to sing four songs: “Messagero Amoroso,” “Love,” “Rose Softly Blooming” and “In Alv Bouquet of Memories,” all of which will be accompanied by the Studio Octet. Also contributing to the vocal side of the programme wilj be the Valencia quartet.—Miss Lucy Fullwood, Miss Jean Johnson, Mr 1. G. Rogers and Air J. E. Johnson. r lhc concerted numbers will he a feature. These will be: “There was a Jolly Miller,”. “Begone Dull Care,” “It was a Lover and his Lass,” “All Through the Night,” “Sally in our Alley” and “Sleep Gentle Lady.” Mr Arthur. Gordon, an outstanding violinist will contribute solos.

A new artist to 4YA, Miss D. Afackey, who is the possessor of ft fine broadcasting voice, ifi included on this evening’s programme. Mr Fox (baritone) and Air F. Watt (bass), both recent additions to 4YA’s role of artists, will also appear. One of Dunedin’s best- contraltos, Aliss G. Burt, completes the vocal section. The Kenz Orpheans, who enjoy great popularity will again regale listeners with popular hits.
