A mill is being opened by private enterprise | md it is estimated that about 10,0!iQ I feet of timber will he required for ! boxing and other purposes. The timber will be milled from a stand of Finns insignis about twenty-four years old, along the edge of Dog Creek. This stand contains some splendid timber, including trees with a long, straight bole, estimated to contain ■IOO to 000 feet of timber, it is understood that Forestry Department experts estimate that there is about half a million feet of milinble timber in the stand. This will be something of a. revelation to the average person who ifs under the impression that the plantations at Haumer are still jn the making. It is reported that the Forestry Department is also supnlying all lareli poles which will he required for scaffolding on the job.
