'The funeral of the late Airs RFleming took place yesterday afternoon. There wr.fi a large attendance to mourners present, the cortege being a lengthy one. There were a lawge number of handsome floral tributes from sorrowing friends. The Rev. HT. Knights conducted the services at All Saints Church and the graveside. Infectious and other notifiable diseases reported in the Canterbury and West Coast Health District during the week ended noon on Monday were eight fewer than were reported the previous week. The total was 15, as follows:—Canterbury: Tuberculosis, 7; pneumonia, 3; puerperal sepsis, 2. AYest Coast: Diphtheria, 3. There was one death in the Canterbury district from tuberculosis. The steamer Nile which left on Saturday afternoon for Okuru with a full general cargo for South AVestlandf settlers, arrived back at the wharf about 9.30 o’clock this morning after a good trip. The steamer brought a full cargo of pips, and a quantity of cheese, butter and tinned whitebait. The steamer is to have a trawl outside before leaving for the north to-mor-row.
