A .MIDNIGHT ASSAULT. (By Telegraph —Per Press Association ) AUCKLAND, February lb. Robert hick it, aged tw euiy-ibne, Herbert, Williams, aged nineteen,:./and Maurice Edward Wistun aged eighteen, in the Police Court to-uay pleaded guilty to assaulting a taxi-di iver at miunighl on January 21 with intent lo rob, also breaking into a bouse m Wellington Street at 1.30 a.m. on January 25 and stealing Kb. Williams and Wixton pleaded guilty to stealing 3s from a dwelling at Pokeiio. All were committed for sentence. The. trio admitted striking the taxidriver several times. It was their ■intention to rob him, as they bad ■ no money. Accused in further statements said that after walking back from Point Chevalier, where the assault., took place, they* broke into Taylor’s house early on Sunday morning and * ate food. Rick it said that Williams and Wis--lon asked him to go into the bedroom to .search for money. All did this, Mr Taylor and his wile being asleep. YV illiams said that he would look alter the man if he awoke, and \\ iston stood over the woman. When Taylor woke ’Williams hit him with a w'hrp handle. All three, men walked to Otahuliu. Next day Williams and Wist.on left Ri* kit .with the intention to walk to Wellington. The three were remanded, till February 25 for assaulting Sidney Taylor.
