RADIO PROGRAMME

(Supplied by the Radio Broadcasting Company of N.Z. Ltd.) THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 12th. The New Clarion Quartet, will appear on lYA’s programme this evening. This combination, consists, ol Miss Lillian Woods, Miss Beryl Smith, Mr Lambert Harvey and Mr Duncan Black. Mr Cyril Towsey, pianist, will olay “Country Dances” (by Beethoven). Two short gramophone lecturerecitals entiJod “Spanish Music and Musicians” will be given by Mr Karl Atkinson. Mr J. M. Clark, elocutionist, will give a Leacock humorous numbers. The Orchestral Octet, will be heard in several selection and there will be a. piccolo solo by Mr .Julian Dunn.

The Wellington City Salvation Army Band, under Bandmaster Scotncy, will provide a programme at, 2YA. Of a delightful nature will he the concerted numbers to be sung by the Lyric Quartet, (heir items including an old English Glee “As Moments Roll.” “Spin, Spin’’ and a selection of popular community songs. The members of the quartet are Messrs Chas. Williams Mr Roy Hill, Will Goodie and W. Binet Brown. Solos will include two Rumanian songs and two Dish folk tunes. Sketches will be acted by Miss Gracie Kerr and Mr James Cook. The 3YA classical—operatic programme will include many well known airs. The Studio String Quartet will play Cherubini’s “Scherzo.” On the vocal side, quartettes will be “For the Year Only,” “Early Spring” and “Summer and Winter.” Among the solos will be “Still as the Night,’’ “If Thou Wort Blinc|.” Eilv Mavourneen." “When the Tides Comes Tn’’ and “Tn Her Simplicity.” Silent day at 4YA. , FRIDAY. FEBRUARY 13th. IYA will broadcast a Spelling Bee, with supplementary items, this evening. The Spelling Bee will be restricted to pupils from the Primary Schools and should prove very entertaining. For the light programme at 2YA Die singers will be Miss Grotta Stark. Mr Ray Kemp. Mr Will Hancock and Mrs Ray Kemp. Many popular solos, duets and quartettes will be sung. Humorous items will be contributed by Mr Will McKcon. Mr S. Williamuiti. an oxnonent of th° banjo, will play a number of popular airs. The orchestral programme will include “The Bohemian Girl” overture, a selection from “The Spring Maid,’ “Darkey’s Dream,” “Medley,” two novelties, “Highland Caddie.” “Conn’s Patrol,” a valse, “O' Mari,” and “I’eo O’ Mv Heart.” Contributin'? to 3YA’s variety programme will be Mrs F. C. Vaughan fsoprano). Mr Sidney Williamson ftenor). Mr F. AA T . Simpson ('baritone). Miss Elaine Moody’s Hawaiian quartet of steel guitars and ukelele. Miss Aileeh Warren (pianiste), Mr Norman Goffin (cornetist) and the Christchurch. Broadcasting Trio. The programme will consist of items of a very diversified nature. At 4YA, Mr Geo. Christie, the solo cornefist of the St. Tvilda Municipal Band, will present two numbers, one of which will be Hoch’s “Coneertunte.” This item is one of the earliest cornet solos and is a brilliant niece of work. Miss Ella Hayden and Mr R. B. MacDonald will make ‘their second appearance as vocal duet,fists. Air A. Ritchie (contralto), Mr Geo. Crawford (tenor) and Miss M. E. Juriss fcloeutioniste) arc the remaining artists on tho programme.
