PIRATES ATTACK

The Chinese vessel “Hsinningtai” was pirated a few miles from Shanghai n route from Haimen. The pirates boarding the vessel disguised as passengers. and had pistols concealed under ’he wings of geese, which they stated were saleable here. While passing the Islands of Yangtsc Delta the pirates suddenly fired on the military guard nboard killing four soldiers and one ot the ship s officers. They then looted the vessel carrying off eighteen Chinese passengers in a junk.
