HOKITIKA SWIMMING CLUB
The first carnival of the season took place at the Aiuiiicipa! Baths on Tuesday night before a fair attendance of the public. It was expected the attendance would have been much larger but tor the School Picnic next day, I lie events proved mast interesting and some great finishes prevailed. The most outstanding performances were those of Master Paddy Diedrichs who won tiie Ist distance of the Newman Cup 25 yards in the record time of 13 seconds and .Miss D. AfeWhirtor wiio won the 50 raids ladies’ race in the excellent time of 33 2-5 seconds. Tiie Municipal Band was in attendance and enlivened proceedings prior to the commencement of the Carnival. One of tiie most interesting features of the Carnival was the excellent music kindly provided b.v Air Parry per medium of the “La Parrvphone.” The following are the results: Boy’s race, 25 yards, under 14:—W.
