There had, been a large parade of unemployed just previously, but accounts arc conflicting tis to the actual course of the disturbance.
The police found themselves in a swirling mob and had literally to fight their way out. At the height of the disturbance the temper of tire crowd was ugly. Thousands gathered in the neighbourhood and blocked the street. Extra police wore rushed to the scene. They gradually got control of the situation. The position at 1 p.m. was normal hut there were still a big crowd in the locality. It is expected that in future that street p-oecssions will he barred. The windows of the temporary Labour Tiul'eau at the old station were wrecked. The Officials sheltered under the tables.
