Tho dispute between the Blackball Coal Company and the Miners’ Union continues, and the mine has entered its third week of idleness. The manager of the mine, Air J. G. The marriage was celebrated at Dennislon on Saturday morning, of Mr W. Meek to Sister Smith, of the Donniston Hospital, and formerly ol the Bailor hospital.

The swimming Club’s Carnival takes place at the Municipal Baths this evening at 7.30 o'clock. It is to he hoped that there will be a large attendance of the public present as the events are sure to attract a great deal of interest. The death took place at the residence of her daughter, Mrs G. Heinz, nark St., last evening of Mrs Jessie Duncan. Deceased was aged 79 years, a native of Glasgow, Scotland, and her death, was the result of a stroke. She has been in New Zealand 51 years and before taking up her residence here was living in Brunner. She loaves two sons, John and William and four daughters Mrs Furness of Palmerston North, Mrs Borland of Kaikoimi, Mrs Rutbvon of Hokitika and Mrs Heinz of Hokitika. The funeral will take place privately to-morrow morning and to the bereaved family the sympathy of the community will lie extended.
