RELEASE IMPOSSIBLE

WOODVILLE, February 2
In reply to a large deputation that waited upon him at* Feilding last month requesting tire release of Abraham Salaman, the Minister of Justice (the Hon. J. G. Oobbe) has informed Mr J. G. Breecliin, of that after full and sympathetic consideration the Government regrets that it cannot* see its way favourably to consider the request of the deputation. OTAGO FLOOD. DUNEDIN, February 3. Heavy rain in the back country caused Taieri river, to rise and in Riverside district several farms are under water. In the same district Outram Railway line is covered with water and trains are not likely to get through before Friday.
