TO CROSS ASIA
A ANTIC EXPEDITION. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received 8.50 n.m.) LONDON, February 2. The “Times 17 Paris correspondent states a gigantic expedition equipped with seven heavy caterpillar motor lorries, and six lighter ears starts on a two year’s journey across Asia on loth Mai'eh from Beirut. The expediton which is orginised by Andre Citroen, includes a number of scientists. geologists, archaeologists, painter, naturalist, wireless and cinema staff. The itinerary will be Iraq. Persia, Turkistan. Gobi Desert, to Peking, where it is hoped to arrive in September. thence to Saigon, after which Siam, Burma, India. Persia. Arabia.
The party will probably begin the second half in 1932. One heavy car carries tile staff, another the surveying and scientific instruments, another a wireless station with a range of 12,000 miles, to be constantly in touch with Europe, Asia and America,. The smaller cars include kitchen and ambnlanre
