MR LANG’S PLAN. TO SECURE FINANCE. AwtraUan- Pres* Association.) SYDNEY, January 30. The State Parliamentary Labour Party a week ago instructed Mr Lang, the Premier, to approach the Loan Council for n loan of one million to help needy N.S.W. farmers. This decision was rescinded to-day. As a result Mr Lang will not attend the next meeting of the Federal Loan Council. Speculation is rife as to whether the Premier, who is known to have secret financial plans under consideration, has discovered an independent source to supply the funds that are so urgently needed.
MOTOR SHIP ENTON
HAS BEEN ABANDONED
(Received this uay at 10.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 30.
The British motor ship Enton which is ashore on a reel forty-five miles from Noumea has been abandoned. It is feared that the vessel will now become a total loss, waves already having displaced her. A seaman who had his leg severed m an accident at the time the vessel grounded lias died. A French steamer has been standing by but has been not able to render any assistance. A heavy swell turned the . Enton stern on and she soon began I to ground on the reef. ■ MR LYONS RESIGNATION. CANBERRA. January 30. Mr Scull in f Prime Minister.) has telegraphed urgently to Mr Lyons declining to accept his resignation from the Federal Cabinet. CANBERRA, January 30. Mr Scullin has received a telegram from Mr Lyons in which the latter refuses to reconsider his decision to resign.
