The. first step towards rationalisation of the heavy steel industry business in which John Brown Company and others are engaged is the proposed amalgiunateion ol John Brown's works, Sheffield, with adjoining similar works of Thomas Firth and Sons, in which John Browns already hold a majority of the issued ordinary shares. The amalgamation necessitated an increase of Firth’s twenty-four hundred thousand capital by four hundred and fifty thousand pounds ordinary shares.
