PECULIAR COINCI DUNCES

PALM It PSION NORTH, Jan. 29. Remarkable coincidences in names and signatures were shown in a case in Court to-day, when Harry Pear.se, 26, a showman, was charged . with making a false document, namely a Post Office Savings Bank withdrawal slip for £2O 18s 4d and with uttering same with intent that it be acted upon as genuine.

The police stated some time ago Hudson Pearse, of Opotiki, transferred his account to Palmerston North.

Accused, who was also known as Hudson Pearse, obtained possession ol the pass book when he called at the Post Office for his mail. Accused later withdrew the whole amount, his signature and that of the rightful owner, possessing remarkable similaiities. Accused pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court at Wellington for sentence. ,
